SPORE...among other things.

Journal Entry: Thu Jun 19, 2008, 3:50 AM
So, for those of you who are into gaming, this is old news~ but anyway...for some who haven't heard of "spore".

It's an intresting game that starts you off in a concept of promordial ooze as a microbe struggling for survival. During the process of the game, you choose how your creation "evolves" as you pick and choose a variety of body parts from a pool of evolotionary stages. This process continues until your special specimen develops an established civilization and willingly ventures into the unforgiving vacuum of space.

The official website released a trial of their "creature creator", and has proven (to me at least) to be generally amusing.

I think it's an interesting and addicting view into the game's core feature and if you're even remotely interested, I believe you should give it a try.

Enough of that~

So! Terrain has been rather dull lately. I'm fighting with some grass color blends...and being one of the most indecisive people in the county when it comes to color scheming, it doesn't help-(see what happens when you're open minded? instead of starting wars with other people, you start going at it with own head.)

I found some neat quartz chips at a local home improvement store that I might make some molds ouf of, it's time for some new rocks for the new scheme.

Obvoisly I took another big break from DA... and i need to check about 600 Devs and 300 messages.

And to think, that's a really tiny number to some people ><. I don't know how they do it~

Thanks for visiting! Take care!

Inspiration

This word has come up a couple times recently. I'd thought a share a couple links to show where I get some ideas for terrain.

:bulletgreen:Terrain Thralls: [link] I don't remember exactly how I came across this site, but the group that works on terrain here is top-notch. Privateer Press fans rejoice~

:bulletgreen:Terragenesis: [link] This small community hosts some very resourceful articles on terrain techniques and popular materials. Confused about a project? Poke around in the forums and perhaps you'll find what you're looking for.

:bulletgreen:Cool Mini or Not: [link] I know there's a lot of deviants that frequent this site, but I thought it's worth mentioning to those who haven't yet. Use the search function on the right column to view some of the best models, paintings and terrain on the planet.

I know there's a few others out there. Perhaps you guys/gals know of a few places in the woodwork that house a gem or two~

Dawn of War 2?

Journal Entry: Sun Apr 6, 2008, 12:48 PM
Came across this little tidbit at IGN. [link]

Not quite sure what to think about it just yet. After looking at the screens at the bottom of the page I figured I'd probably have to up my rig in order to play it (already having problems with Supreme Commander as it is). Time for a factory line run~

There's plenty of speculation in the Relic forums and other various gaming sites. I think the screens look great so far, but I still have doubts that it will be released in 2009.

------

Terrain stuff is coming along nicely. I'm looking into a lightweight joint compound to use for some exterior texturing, Hopefully that works out. Hitting the Home Depot tuesday to find out.

Out on a limb~

Hello again.

I don't know if I've ever stated this directly...

I've never really been satisfied with the way some of my old trees come out.

:bulletgreen:The "woodland" version was decent, but again, the whole lichen moss thing kinda killed the idea.

:bulletgreen:The "wilderness" version was a bit on the skimpy side. Tiny little wimpy wire trees. They were quick and easy to make, yes, but they just didn't have that aesthetic punch to them.

:bulletgreen:My latest tree submission is to accompany the "palestone" scheme I have going on at the moment. I've used lichen moss, steel wool, ground moss, clump foliage, and other various insane concepts, some more terrible than others. These trees utilize a semi-traditional material known as "poly-fiber", or in my case, pillow stuffing. Just paint, flock and let'er rip, seems to work out alright so far. Compared to clump foliage or lichen moss, this stuff actually looks pretty nice, to my eye at least. Plus I get a gazillion cubic feet of it since it uses an incredibly small amount of material to decorate a tree. It just takes a while to do so~

Thanks for visitng!

Out of the Ashes.

Ugh. Has it been 5 months already? Talk about a slump.

Well, It seems that I'm done hiding and ready to work on some new stuff.

Had some dental work recently. Went well.

I've been on a Culinary kick the last few months. I've been out of the workshop and inside the kitchen. Pastries, chicken, home-made frappes, salsa, breads, pizza dough, Panini's, Ratatouille (yeah the stew), modifying my funnel cake recipe, and a few roasts.

I made some killer pork ribs this afternoon and My gf had been bugging for me to try my hand at sourdough. It's a lengthy process, but shouldn't hurt to try.

ANYway, I'm eager to get back on track. I picked up some new materials from the hobby shop this week and my experiments are coming along nicely.

I have some catching up to do.

Thanks for visiting!
